01

Using this website

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. You should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 400% without text spilling off the screen;
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard;
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader such as NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver;
  • use the website on phones and tablets, in portrait and landscape; and
  • change colours, contrast and fonts using your browser or device settings.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

02

What we do

  • use clear headings and a logical page structure so the website works well with screen readers;
  • write in plain English and avoid unnecessary jargon;
  • give images text alternatives where they carry meaning;
  • check colour contrast between text and backgrounds;
  • make sure forms have labels, show clear error messages and can be completed using a keyboard; and
  • design pages to resize and reflow on smaller screens and when zoomed.
03

Our spreadsheet solutions

Our Excel workbooks are designed to be easy to follow. Input cells are clearly marked, each workbook includes a written user guide, sheets and ranges are clearly named, and calculations are kept on separate sheets so results are easy to read. We avoid relying on colour alone to show meaning.

If you use assistive technology and have difficulty with a workbook, contact us and we will do our best to help, for example by talking you through it or providing an alternative layout.

04

Known limitations

We know some parts of the website are not yet fully accessible:

  • Screenshots of our spreadsheets are images. We describe what each sheet does in the text alongside, but fine detail in the screenshots may not be available to screen reader users.
  • Embedded Google Maps on our contact page may not be fully accessible. Our full addresses are always given in text alongside the maps.
  • Some older articles and downloadable documents may not yet meet the standard we aim for.
  • Links to other websites, including payment providers, are outside our control and may not meet the same standard.

We are working to fix these issues as we update the website.

05
