API Terms of Use

About this document

What it’s for

Terms that apply when developers and business customers connect their own software to your platform through your API. They control who can use your API and how, protect your data and infrastructure, set out how you will change or retire endpoints, and limit your liability.

When to use it

  • Public or partner APIs, whether free, freemium or paid
  • Accepted at developer portal sign-up or when an API key is issued
  • Alongside your main SaaS terms if customers also use the API

Key points to check

  • These terms are for business users – do not use them for consumers
  • Check that your API documentation and these terms say the same thing about limits and data
