Business Valuation Information Pack

About this document

What it’s for

A structured pack for collecting the information a valuer, corporate finance adviser or buyer needs to value your business, plus a worksheet to calculate normalised (maintainable) EBITDA – the profit figure most small and medium business valuations are built on. A worked example shows how adjustments and the enterprise-to-equity bridge work.

When to use it

  • Before commissioning a valuation or approaching buyers
  • When preparing for a management buy-out or Employee Ownership Trust sale (trustees must not pay more than market value)
  • For shareholder exits, divorce or dispute valuations (with a qualified valuer)

How to complete it

  • Complete Part A (business profile) in your own words
  • Collect the documents in Part B and note where each is saved
  • Complete the EBITDA worksheet in Part C for each of the last 3 years and the latest 12 months
  • Use Part D as a guide – replace the example figures with your own

Key points to check

  • Every adjustment needs evidence – a buyer will reject unsupported add-backs
  • Multiples vary widely by sector and size; take advice before relying on any figure
