Charity Financial Controls Policy
About this document
Trustees must protect their charity’s money and assets. Weak controls are the main reason charities lose money to fraud and error. The Charity Commission’s guidance on internal financial controls (CC8) sets out what trustees are expected to have in place. This policy turns that guidance into clear rules for your charity, and includes an annual checklist so trustees can confirm the controls are working.
The document is laid out in the sections below. Each one comes with a plain-English guidance note explaining what it does and what to change.
