About this document

What it’s for

When to use it

  • For desktop software, mobile apps, plug-ins and downloadable tools
  • Where the user accepts the terms by clicking “I agree” or similar before installing or first use
  • Alongside your Website Privacy Notice (and Cookie Policy, for web-based features)

  • Keep clause 8 (consumer rights) if any users may be consumers – it cannot legally be removed for them
  • Display it before purchase or download and keep a record of acceptance

Key points to check

  • App stores impose their own minimum licence terms – check the Apple and Google developer requirements
  • Consumer subscriptions will be subject to the DMCC Act 2024 subscription rules once they commence
