Fundraising Policy

About this document

What it’s for

A fundraising policy that shows how the trustees control and oversee fundraising, so that it is legal, open, honest and respectful. It reflects the Fundraising Regulator’s new Code of Fundraising Practice (in force from 1 November 2025), the Charity Commission’s guidance “Charity fundraising: a guide to trustee duties” (CC20), data protection and electronic marketing rules (including the charity soft opt-in from February 2026), and the rules on collections and lotteries.

When to use it

  • When the charity fundraises from the public, from businesses or through events, online appeals, raffles or collections
  • Before working with a professional fundraiser, commercial partner or fundraising platform
  • When applying to register with the Fundraising Regulator
