Moving and Handling Risk Assessment

A detailed assessment of the moving and handling needs of one person you support, using the TILE(O) approach adapted for people handling. It produces a clear plan for each transfer, records the equipment, slings and number of staff needed, and tracks the LOLER thorough examinations and pre-use checks that lifting equipment needs.

• Before care starts, as part of the initial assessment
• Whenever the person’s mobility, weight, health or equipment changes, and after any fall
• At each care plan review, and at least every [6] months

• Have a trained assessor complete it with the person, involving therapists where needed
• Complete a plan row for every transfer the person needs
• Record every item of equipment with its examination dates
• Share the plan with every worker and keep it with the care plan
