Plant and Equipment Hire Agreement

About this document

What it’s for

A hire agreement for a business hiring out plant, machinery, tools or access equipment to another business, or for a contractor who wants clear terms when hiring from a smaller hire company. It covers the hire period, charges, delivery and off-hire, the hirer’s responsibilities, operated hire, breakdowns, loss and damage, insurance and liability.

When to use it

  • Hiring out excavators, dumpers, rollers, MEWPs, towers, generators, tools and similar equipment
  • Self-drive (bare) hire, or operated hire where you also supply the driver
  • Between businesses – not for hiring to consumers
