Retainer Agreement for Agencies

About this document

What it’s for

An agreement for an agency (or senior freelancer) that provides ongoing services each month for a fixed fee, in return for a set allocation of hours or credits. It deals with the issues that sour retainers: unused time, requests that do not fit, work spilling over, and how either side can step back.

When to use it

  • Ongoing design, content, social media, PR, SEO, web support or creative services
  • Instead of repeated small project quotes for a client you work with every month
  • Alongside the Agency Client Services Agreement in the first Creative & agencies pack, for clients who also commission larger projects
