Trustee Expenses and Payments Policy
About this document
Trustees generally serve without payment, but they should not be out of pocket. They can be reimbursed for reasonable expenses, and in limited circumstances paid for services they provide to the charity. Any payment or benefit to a trustee must be properly authorised and disclosed in the accounts. This policy makes the rules clear and protects trustees from accidentally receiving an unauthorised benefit.
The document is laid out in the sections below. Each one comes with a plain-English guidance note explaining what it does and what to change.
