Care providers
Visiting, Contact and Accompanying Policy
About this document
Since 6 April 2024, CQC regulation 9A requires care homes and hospitals to facilitate visits and not discourage them, and to support people to be accompanied to appointments. This policy sets out your open approach to visiting, the very limited circumstances in which visits may be restricted, and how decisions are recorded and reviewed.
The document is laid out in the sections below. Each one comes with a plain-English guidance note explaining what it does and what to change.
Our templates are professionally structured starting points for UK businesses, not legal advice. For anything complex, unusual or high-value, have your final version checked by a solicitor.
