Property, shares, crypto and business disposals

When you sell or give away something that has gone up in value – a buy-to-let, a former home, shares, crypto or a business – you may owe capital gains tax (CGT) on the profit. Working it out by hand means juggling purchase and selling costs, improvements, private residence relief, losses, the annual exempt amount, two different rates that depend on your income, and a 60-day deadline for UK residential property. This calculator does all of that for every disposal in the tax year, shows each step of the computation, tells you how much is still to pay and by when, and shows how much could have been saved by sharing ownership with a spouse or civil partner.

Step 2
The full CGT computation, step by step, for the tax year chosen. What you do: nothing to enter – read and print it.
Step 3
