Executor Estate Accounts

Overview

Being an executor (or an administrator, if there's no will) means collecting in everything the person owned, paying their debts, the funeral, any inheritance tax and the costs of sorting it all out, and then handing what's left to the right people – keeping a clear record as you go. This workbook gives you that record. You list the assets and debts at the date of death, the people who inherit and every pound in and out of the estate; it then estimates the inheritance tax, works out the tax on income received after the death (including the £500 tax-free amount), prepares estate accounts in the standard capital, income and distribution format, shows what each beneficiary is still owed, produces R185 figures, reconciles the estate bank account and tracks every deadline.

Who it is for

Made for people like you

  • Example – text
  • Lay executors and administrators – A step-by-step record that turns into proper estate accounts for the beneficiaries.
  • Executors using a solicitor – Your own check on the figures, costs and what's been paid out.
  • Accountants and bookkeepers – A ready-made cash book, income tax working, R185 figures and estate accounts.
  • Beneficiaries (shared by the executors) – A clear view of what the estate holds and when they'll be paid.
  • WATCH OUT – This workbook is a record-keeping and estimating tool, not legal or tax advice. It follows the rules for England & Wales as understood at October 2026. Executors are personally responsible for administering the estate correctly – take professional advice if the estate is complex, may be insolvent, includes a business, farm, trust or foreign assets, or if anyone might challenge the will.

Quick start

Up and running in minutes

  1. Example – text
  1. Estate Details – Enter the person's details, whether there's a will, the executors, the key dates as they happen and the inheritance tax settings.
  2. Assets – List everything they owned at the date of death with its value, how it's owned and – later – what happened to it.
  3. Liabilities – List every debt and the funeral.
  4. Beneficiaries – Enter who inherits: cash legacies and shares of the residue. Specific gifts of items are marked against the asset.
  5. Receipts & Payments – Record every receipt and payment with a category – this is the heart of the workbook.
  6. Check the results – IHT Summary, Estate Income, Estate Accounts, R185 and Bank Reconciliation all update automatically. The Dashboard flags anything that needs attention.
  7. Checklist – Tick off tasks with the date you did them.
