Late Collection and Non-Collection Policy

About this document

What it’s for

The EYFS requires every provider to have an agreed procedure for when a parent fails to collect a child at the appointed time. This policy sets that out with a timed procedure, safe staffing, when to involve children’s social care and the police, and how to handle unauthorised or unfit collectors. It includes three records.

When to use it

  • As your written non-collection procedure, shared with parents at registration
  • When training staff who open and close the setting
  • When agreeing one-off collection by another adult
