Redundancy Consultation Letters Pack

About this document

What it’s for

A complete set of letters and forms for making one or more employees redundant fairly, with guidance on each stage. It includes the at-risk letter, consultation meeting invitations, a meeting record, a selection criteria matrix and scoring sheet, a suitable alternative employment letter, the notice of redundancy, and appeal letters. A separate section covers collective consultation, election of representatives, the section 188 letter and the HR1 notification.

When to use it

  • When you need to reduce staff numbers, close a site or stop a type of work
  • For individual consultation (fewer than 20 redundancies) and alongside collective consultation (20 or more)
  • Not for dismissals that are really about performance or conduct
