Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Policy

About this document

What it’s for

Your policy for identifying and supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities. It covers your SENCO, early identification, the assess–plan–do–review cycle, working with parents and professionals, requesting an EHC needs assessment, funding such as the Disability Access Fund and SEN inclusion fund, reasonable adjustments and transitions. Appendices include a support plan, SEND register, consent form and funding checklist.

When to use it

  • As your SEND policy for Ofsted, the local authority and parents
  • When a practitioner or parent first raises a concern about a child’s development
