Whistleblowing Policy (Childcare)

About this document

What it’s for

Your policy for staff to raise concerns about wrongdoing, poor practice or risks to children, and to be protected when they do. It explains what to report, how to report internally, external routes (LADO, Ofsted, NSPCC Whistleblowing Advice Line), legal protection under the Employment Rights Act 1996, confidentiality and how concerns are investigated. It includes a concern form, a log and a staff contacts poster.

When to use it

  • As your written whistleblowing policy (required by the EYFS since 1 September 2025)
  • At induction for every employee, student, apprentice and volunteer
  • Whenever someone raises a concern about practice in the setting
